New surface properties (anti-biofilm) in polypropylene through IMM (In Mold Microstructure)

Petition/ Problem

Biofilm is generated on a piece of polypropylene (PP) because it is in contact with sewage.

Objective

New microstructure that alters the roughness of the piece so that it is superhydrophobic and does not adhere or form biofilm.

ATRIA solution

Texturing of the interior of the mold through IMM (In Mold Microstructuring) so that these once injected acquire the new texture on the surface.

Transfer of the microstructure from the mold to the final piece injected.
